Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Biko app (hereby referred to as “Application”) for mobile devices that was created by ZCT Labs (hereby referred to as “Service Provider”). The Application is provided for use “AS IS”.
Biko is a local-only application. It has no user accounts, no servers of its own, and no analytics. Your rides never leave your device unless you choose to share or export them yourself.
Information Collection and Use
The Application does not collect, transmit or store any personal information on the Service Provider’s systems. The Service Provider has no way of seeing your rides, your location, or how you use the app.
The following information is created and kept only in the Application’s private storage on your device:
- Location data recorded while you are tracking a ride (coordinates, altitude, speed, accuracy and timestamps from your device’s GPS), together with the summary calculated from it — distance, duration, elevation and speed
- Ride titles and notes that you type
- Photos that you attach to a ride, copied into the Application’s own folder
- Your app settings, such as the theme and map style
None of this is sent anywhere. It is not backed up to the Service Provider, and it is not accessible to the Service Provider or to any third party.
Location Data
The Application requests permission to access your device’s location so that it can record a ride. Location is used only while a ride is being tracked, and only to produce the ride you asked for.
- On Android, tracking runs in a foreground service of type
location, which is why an ongoing notification is shown for the whole ride. The Application does not request background location access. - On iOS, “Allow While Using the App” is sufficient. iOS shows its own indicator while the Application is recording with the screen off. “Always” access is never requested.
You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; ride tracking will then stop working, but nothing else in the Application is affected.
Third Party Access
The Application does not include any analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking SDK, and it does not share your data with anyone.
Two categories of third party are involved in ordinary use, and only in the ways described:
- Map tile providers. When you look at a map (a ride’s route, or the flyover replay), the Application downloads map imagery from CARTO basemaps, built on OpenStreetMap data. Requesting a map tile necessarily reveals your IP address and the area of the map being viewed to that provider, as with any website that shows a map. See the CARTO privacy policy. No ride data, identifier or account is sent — only the tile request itself. Screens with no map make no network requests at all.
- App stores. Google Play and the Apple App Store handle the download, purchase and update of the Application under their own terms and privacy policies: Google Play and Apple. The Service Provider receives only the aggregate, anonymous statistics those stores publish to developers, which cannot identify you.
Data You Choose to Share
Some features send data off your device only when you actively ask them to:
- Share a ride card — hands a generated image to your device’s share sheet. Where it goes next is your choice, and is governed by the app you send it to.
- Export a backup (.biko file) — writes a file containing your finished rides and hands it to your device’s share sheet, so you can save it to Files, a cloud drive of your own choosing, or a chat. The Service Provider never receives it, and cannot read it.
Data Retention and Deletion
The Service Provider stores no data, so there is nothing for the Service Provider to retain or delete. Your ride data stays on your device for as long as you keep it. You can:
- delete an individual ride in the Application, which also deletes its recorded track and its photos;
- clear the app’s storage from your device settings; or
- uninstall the Application, which removes all of its data from your device.
Files you exported or shared yourself are not affected by any of the above — they are wherever you put them.
Children
The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13 and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. Since the Application collects no information at all, no such information can be received. If you are a parent or guardian with a question about this, please contact the Service Provider at zerocodeteam@gmail.com.
Security
Your data is protected by the security of your own device: the Application’s database and files live in its private storage, which other apps cannot read. You are responsible for keeping your device secure — a device that is unlocked, rooted or jailbroken weakens those protections.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-08-25.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you are consenting to the practices described in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by the Service Provider.
